Vinata Gangoli
Vinata was brought up in Mumbai, India
and her music-loving parents initiated her into
music at an early age. She had training in Hindustani (north
Indian classical) music in the Gwalior
tradition of music from Late Ganpatrao Desai and graduated
with distinction with a Sangeet Visharadfrom
Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.
Later, Vinata had her training from and continues
to be guided by Pandit Yeshwantbuva
Joshi, an eminent classical musician and recipient of Sangeet Natak Academy award from the President of
India.
Having won honors and
accolades in several music competitions and music events while
pursuing her academic
studies, Vinata also performed as a graded
classical musician on
All India Radio, Mumbai, India, before moving to the US. Vinata has lived with her family in Colorado,
US for the past several years and her performances in several cities in the US as well as during her trips to India have
been appreciated by audiences. She also teaches music in Colorado. Vinata
works in the field of Software Engineering, while pursuing her love for
music. In her performances, Vinata presents various
genres of the north Indian classical and semi-classical music such as Khayal, Thumri, Bhaktisangeet, Natyasangeet,
with a reverence for the tradition as well as a keen sense of aesthetic
improvisation.
