Shree Narendra Budhkar Narendra Budhakar was born in Pune into a family that had its share of art and culture. His cousin Shashikant Purandare was a dedicated tabla player of the Delhi gharana of percussion, and it was from him that Naren took his first tabla lessons. In 1995, the legendary tabla maestro Pt. Samta Prasad visited Pune, and from him Naren received further guidance. After coming to the US, Naren continued his musical career with unrelenting dedication. He has accompanied artists playing a wide range of instruments, including sitar, sarod, and shehnai. Naren has played with distinguished artists including Barun Kumar Pal, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, and many others. In New York, Naren continues to study with Pt. Samir Chatterji, a master tabla player from Calcutta.
