Shri Jayant Banerjee Started learning vocal music at an early age from his father, Shri Purna Ranjan Banerjee and his uncle Shri Bijoy RanjanBanerjee, both wellknown vocalists from Calcutta. Jayant then received training on Flute from Pt. Ravi Garud, who was a senior disciple of the Flute legend Pt. Devendra Murdeshwar. He was fortunate to have received guidance from the great Beenkar, Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar and great vocalist Pt. Balasaheb Poochwale. Jayant is presently under the tutelage of the Sitar Maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan. He has evolved a unique style combining Beenkar Ang and Gayaki/Khayal Ang. Jayant keeps a busy concert schedule both in USA and in India. He has received numerous music awards including "Sur-Mani" from Sur Singar Samsad, Bombay. |
